Question about Samsung HT-X50 System
Recently the power went out in our house causing our 7 month old Samsung HT-X50 DVD home theater system to turn off. When the power returned, the fan on the DVD player made a loud noise. After a few minutes, 'Fan Check' was blinking on the DVD screen. Soon after, the DVD player turned itself off. We have turned the system on and off many time since with the same series of events occurring. Any ideas on what is causing this?

As I am siting here with the case open. I am checking the heatsinks. They are all warm to the touch or cool except for this one. The heatsink near the volume knob, between the 2 green capacitors and a yellow power object and almost touching the dvd tray is extremely hot to the touch. It actually burned me. I have a window fan sitting on top of the whole unit with the lid off. No shutdowns yet! My planned cure is to either cut a square out of the side or on the top of the lid and mount a small computer fan there to blow air in or out(once I decide the best route for air to ventelate). Let me know if you all experince this very hot heatsink. This could be a 5 dollar cure to the problem. Does anyone know of a constant power source on the motherboard for a fan? The original fan blows very little air. Its quite pathetic.
Thanks and goodluck,
