Dell Inspiron Not Loading Blank Screen but whirs and lights flash

Sounds like the High Voltage part of the screen may have been dammaged. (easy to break part of laptops) I've done that to two of my past laptops. Does it sound like it's loading up and doing things normally. (other than not displaying the screen)? Could be that you've inadvertently place the Video Output to External and not Internal or Both, or Automatic. Try pressing the Fn (Function; unique to laptops) and tap a similar text colored button that looks like a monitor slash screen. (See picture) This procedure will cycle the Video Output through, laptop screen, external display, auto, both displays. or something similar. At any rate, by taping it at least five times, it should come up with laptop screen at least once. Try this, if it dosn't work, plug a regular vga monitor to the output on the back and see if cycling through the display types works. If so, it may be a dammaged laptop screen, if not, the battery could be low, or the power supply cord could be dammaged. Trying this is nondestructive and may be the simplest solution.
