Converting VHS to DVD

I want to convert VHS to a DVD. I have a VHS that includes the sonagram of my baby and want to send it to my parents in another state, but they only have a DVD player. I have the Emerson EWD2203 VHS/DVD combo. Is it possible to record the information on the VHS to a DVD? If so, can anyone tell me how to do so?

Thank you so much for your help.

Re: Converting VHS to DVD

All you have to do is buy a vhs to dvd recorder. They sell those everywhere, like costco, walmart, etc. They keep getting cheaper and cheaper...
They will come with a manual with model specific instructions, but usually its pretty easy. The cassette plays and the device records the video onto the dvd.
They also play vhs and dvds too XD.

I have a Go-Video DV2150. Can I make a copy of a vcr tape to a dvd

The conversion from VHS to DVD means you are converting an analogue to a digital format. So you need to compress and process the data to be written down. If the above mentioned has the hardware/software support you can go ahead and convert.

I am trying to copy a VHS to DVD from a VHS player. I have a Sony VRD-MC6 multi-function DVD Recorder. I am using the A/V cable and have verified that they are correctly placed. The Sony player will...

Is it possible the VHS you're trying to copy is copy-protected? Apparently, the MC6 displays "waiting for signal" when you're attempting to copy a copy-protected (commercial) video. I had success converting my own homemade VHS tapes. I just bought my MC6, and thought I'd pass along some tips I got from others: You know you're recording when a red ring around the large Record button lights up and it actually says "recording" on screen, and adjust HQ to SP to get 2-plus hours of video on the DVD.

Dvd recording using a pc

The product you need is called the Pinaccle Dazzle - it is basically a red/white/yellow composite to USB connector - it also comes with software for capturing your videos in DVD format on your computer (or you can record directly to a DVD disc inserted in yuor computer). I purchased mine at Best Buy, but it is available in a lot of places. It works great, and I have been busily converting those old VHS's to my PC, and then from PC to DVD.

Good luck!

After converting a vhs tape into a dvd how do you unlock it so it will play? I have converted it but the dvd doesnt play

Not all DVD players will play all types of DVD's. For instance, there is R-, R+, RW-, RW+, 2 layer, 4 layer, VCD and more like HD, Blue ray, etc. Your DVD must be able to read the specific type of DVD you have. Usually it is labled on the machine, and the DVD should also be labled as to type.

PAL to NTSC conversion

This is not a converting unit, it will play the format of the tape inside. To convert the signal you need one of the following:

1) A converting VHS player; they are fairly expensive.
2) A separate video converter (hardware); they run for about $200-$500; just put this between your VCR and the TV.
3) Capture the PAL on your computer using a software like Movie Maker via a Firewire cable. Than convert it to NTSC on your machine using software like Nero... do a search on Google for converting software. Or just watch it on our computer in PAL format, most computers do that... For this step I use a separate camcoder that has a passthrough feature. The VCR connects to it and the camcorder connects to the computer via Firewire.
4) send the PAL tape to a specialized shop for conversion. They normally charge $30-$40 for a regular 2h VHS tape.
