Hi, I have a Neptune FAV6800 that I just got from a relative. He said it wouldn't complete the spin cycle. What I found is it started the wash cycle got to drain the first time and did drain but gave a nd code for not draining. I added water (lots of it) and it all drains out, but it won't move beyond this point. Any ideas?

- Rich, I got the Neptune going today. I was suspecting the pressure switch as well. When I cycled the machine I found it started to try to clean things without any water in it. I knew something was up with it. I removed the switch, cleaned it, and checked the contacts for low, medium and high, found the high wasn't closed. I adjusted it slightly, there are a series of screws that adjust the pressure trip point. Once I did that, I put it back and ran it in the spin cycle. Once it completed that I ran a load through it and it has now done 5 loads so far today. Thank you for the advice, I do like the machine very much. I had repaired one other that has sticky clutch bearings. I saw someone talking someplace about a $57 clutch for this machine. Any idea where to get them? I am going to start collecting them! This site is great for helping out! Jerry.

- Do you know if there are replacement springs for the clutch assembly? I have repaired two clutches so far on these machines. I would really like to find a MAH5500 front loader. I think those are great machines. I think I will become a Maytag repairman!

- Yes, the spring was broken very close to the loop. I did manage to bend a new loop in the spring and it is working fine. The bearings were sticky on this one as well as the other one I worked on. It is washing a load, the 7th of the day right now! Jerry

- One machine was a 11 and the other a 16. Both had the one way roller clutch assembly on them. Would love to talk with you, you've made this a lot of fun! I was actually looking for more machines! Can we post an email address to contact each other?

- How difficult are bearings to replace on the front load Neptunes? I see lots of them for sale and many say they are loud or have bad bearings. I would like to find a MAH5500 if possible. What do you think of those machines? Jerry.

Hey Jerry,

It’s a $1K machine and I feel fairly easy to work on…. But like most machines has its problems. Does the ND error code display after emptying the washer of water? If so I think you may have a stuck pressure switch.

Any other error codes?

Take a read thru this post

If you have a ND error code key into my trouble shooting comments of May 15, 2009
This forum member had clutch issues also that are comingled into the troubleshooting I don’t want to confuse you with your issue.

Here is the Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

You can pump out the excess Tub water with this process from the Service Manual;

I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.

Enter Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.

Post back with an update and if you want to put on your DIY hat… let me know.

Good Luck Rich aka dh1200s

- Jerry,

Excellent work!!! The High side pressure switch places 120VAC on the connections going to the H/C water solenoids, the water valves for bleach and softener also. I believe you would have eventually failed with an NF error code.

I point everyone to this Clutch at AZ. They have the best price and this Clutch will work for all series FAV6800AW and the LCD flavor FAV9800AW. I also have a post for clutch maintenance and replacement. Ya took a 1K$ and gave some extra life. Hope you will chime in for support to help others. Again…. well done!

Some other links for ya;
Wiring information (series 10)
Wiring information (series 13)
Wiring information (series 15)

Here is a link to post where I attempt to explain what I think is happening with clutch malfunction causing unbalance errors dc/UC.
Good luck and hope to see ya on the forum again… Rich

- Jerry,

My clutch links don't seem to work try this
Clothes Washer Clutch - 25001169
If that doesn’t work go to applaibcezone.com and punch in the p/n 25001169

- Not that I’m aware of. Is the large wrap spring in the clutch broke off at the retainer loop end? If so I remember one forum member that actually to a torch to the spring end and reshaped. My first and only failure to date was mid Dec 08. Almost triggered on a new machine purchase then decided to do dig in and see what was causing the dc/UC unbalance errors. The machine as you can see is not difficult to work on once you gain some hands on experience, saving $ is nice too.
“”I would really like to find a MAH5500 front loader. I think those are great machines. I think I will become a Maytag repairman!”” Don’t know anything about MAH5500 I’ll have to pull the SM from servicematters.com and take a look…the Maytag repair man is a go.

- Jerry, did the clutches in the machines you worked on use the upper One-Way roller clutch assembly? My series 16 1st two digits of my s/n did not, just curious.

Push that machine hard.... You need to treat yourself to some new tools with what ya saved on your DIY projects. Two clutch jobs my WAG is $300 each, one pressure switch job $165 maybe I'm in left field with cost..............naaaaa I don't think so look thru the forum post.

Adjusted the pressure switch :) you the man! That's DIY extreme... Excellent troubleshooting very refreshing to see.

- I would not drop this kind of change but if you think you can justify $ with multiple repairs see this http://www.tonytool.com/.

I saw a home brew bearing extractor somewhere will try to find the link.

I use dh1200s@yahoo.com for one way e-mail. Ping me there and I will froward pri e-mail. Rich

I'm on the east coast pulling the plug ATT.

- Jerry,

Take a look at this post, and see if will help ya out. When I get ready to replace the outer tub bearings in my machine this is the direction I will go. Home Brew bearing insertion tool.
