Question about Star Logic 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Red screen? My Starlogic 19" flat screen has suddenly developed a red tint. I've been using it for about a year -- running it off my mac laptop without problem.  I've tried fiddling with the settings including the red tone, but it only gets worse. Any ideas?

Re: red screen?

If the vga cable nicely connected may be the logic card in the LCD.

Syncmaster 912n red tint problem

A red or pink tint on LCD monitors indicate that the back light florescent bulbs are about to go out. Just like on regular florescent these bulbs are just much smaller but burn out just the same. Check the date on the back of your monitor, if it is less than 3 years old then its still under warranty but if its not then its time for a new monitor. The bulbs can be replaced but it really is not worth the trouble.

My screen has gone to a blue tint. What is the life expectancy for a screen?

Blue tint (Red tint, or Green tint) is more likely due to one of the pin on the VGA cable is bent ot the cable is not seated properly of the the video card conectors may be the problem. Try it with another PC and check the pins.

Starlogic 19" flat panel screen won't show anything.

Have you made sure that all the cable connections are screwed in tight?

You could also remove the cable to make sure that none of the pins have become bent out of place.

Red tint on Viewsonic P930b

We do a lot of LCD monitor repairs and usually when you get the red tinted display it means the backlight tube is going out. This part is like a very small fluorescent tube just like in you office lamps. The tube is part of the display section and is very hard to replace. You can check the power supply first just to be sure. We have a dis-assembly/repair guide on our web site at: If you find any bad capacitors you can change them and check but I would be it is the backlight tubes, if so just replace the monitor.

Starlogic 17'' as dual display not clear

Check and see if your NVIDIA drivers are up to date. Then try changing the resolution on your laptop to match the native resolution on the monitor and see if it works. If it does then you will need to look for the option to set custom resolutions on each monitor so that you can have both devices working at diferent resolutions if 1 is wide screen and the other is not.

Let me know if this does not work and you need more help.

Gateway FPD1960 19" CD has a red tint to all oc screen when I turn it on.

Make sure your VGA cable is seated properly. If it is seated OK, it could be the start of a problem with a backlight. When a backlight goes bad, it typically shows up as pink/red color where white should be displayed.

If you are getting a "No Signal" message, someone may have inadvertantly pressed the wrong button on the monitor. Use up arrow of button #5 below to cycle through RGB (normal VGA connection) and DVI sources. Down arrow will result in "No Signal" message.

There are five buttons at the bottom of the screen on this monitor. From the left:
1 - sound volume
2 - degausser
3 - power on/off
4 - monitor set-up
5 - RGB/DVI source
