This typically caused by a weak/dead .
The laser cost about 20.00 30.00
and isn't to hard to replace if you want
to save money.
Or you can have a shop swap it out
for around 80.00 or so.
If you have any questions just comment and ill respond.

before you are so easily throw negative feed back maybe you should have ask if I know where and how
to install one , I may have sent you one and instructed
you personally on how to install it . your cost 20.00
and you now have a working box . I have helped others
before like this.
This is more than likely your laser that is dead and its possibly a Samsung or Hitachi drive, be careful
when
buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the minute which can damage your
machine or
at the very least will be inferior and not last long.
if your 360 reads DVD's but not games it may be repairable but if it wont read anything then your better
off replacing the laser. strip down the console and strip the DVD drive, take out the laser and look
underneath it, it will have a code such as HD57 or something else, note that down. Visit ebay and search
for the laser with the same code, buy it, fit it in and make sure you de-solder the static blob of solder
before using it (search the net about this or ask the seller) and then try your machine again :)
this might help. there is also something else you can try and thats something called asjusting the 'pots',
this is a bit complicated for anyone not used to the process but i do have a guide if you want to have a
go yourself. what this does is adjust the laser power so its a full again just like it was when you first
bought it. (thats the easy explanation).

Hi, I have a nasty problem. I can watch full length DVDs all day on my XBOX360 console. But when I play games such as Halo 3 or Fable 2, the game either freezes before I can get past the menu (Halo) or just freezes up (Fable) I've bouight new games and they don't play either - straight out of the wrapping. I've cleaned and checked the DVD laser head - no problems there. And right now I have the Halo Piano track playing - it can read teh actual DVD perfectly well. Is this something to do with software? Is there a regional setting I don't know about? Is it memory related? Or do I just need a new box? Some games, such as Pro Evo work fine. But they get a bit boring when they're all I can use!

When I put a game into the xbox it will not register there is a game in there. If you keep turning the console on and off it eventually works. I have tried with various games and dvds and problem is still there.
