If your pump had something in it, it wouldn't have had to clog it, but rather just stopped the internal spinning. My coworker removed a dollar bill from his water pump, and it fixed the problem he was having (same as you've described) and the water pump worked well after it was re-installed. Worst case scenario, you reinstall it and it doesn't drain and you spend 40 or 50 bucks online for the part. I would reinstall and see if it works. I'd bet on it.
It doesn't spinIf your washer won't spin, check these:It doesn't pump or spinIt pumps, but doesn't spinIt spins only with the lid closedIt doesn't pump or spinIf it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt. If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
If you start the washer and it just kind of buzzes and then does nothing, one thing you can check is to see if you have a clogged water pump. If you have kids sometimes baby socks can get jammed into the pump causing it not to spin, to check the pump simpy pull the hose on the back that goes into the pump and the hose that comes out of the pump, then the pump should slide off the shaft check to see if the water pump spins freely!
hums sound proble coming from the drain pump. sounds like its trying to pump out water but cant. try tipping back andsee if you can spin the pump manually, (usuallya fan cooling blade coming outta back end of pump.wont spin if it cant drain
Without any other info. this sounds like the basket drive is worn out. Depending on the brand, it has different names, but it all does the same thing. Its kind of like the clutch in your car. It has to slowly get to speed. Yours, without any clothes in it has no load. But when you add weight, it doesn't have enough power to turn it. Its slipping or just worn out. Just wondering, why did you change the water pump? Did the wheel on it break?
