Re: wharfedale dvdr24hd160F

I have to agree with you on this I have just bought this dvd recorder and the instructions are so bad. The remote makes no sense at all and it is hard to get out of some of the menus.I am an IT engineer and this thing has got me stumped. My only advice as I have found out is not to rush the inputs as the dvd seems to take 10-20seconds to decide what it wants to do.

Hi, This may sound silly but check that there are NO blemishes( read fingerprints) on the disc surface as just about every player I know of will take execption to these - clean disc again just to be sure.
While you say the staff member has checked the unit, they dont always give them a "soak test" and often these types of fault go unnoticed. verify with another known disc to be sure and if the problems still exists, then you may have a temperamental or aged unit.
Please note - there are many pieces of s**t out there so best buy a new unit of a reputable brand when it comes to this kind of technology.

Trying to play a disk on my Wharfedale DVDR24HD160F and all I get is the word ROOT coming up on the player front and the player stops.

Dear Team. I was getting vision but no sound or sound but no vision a right dogs dinner of a mess. What I decided to do was to run the recorder by applying the facory defaults. This reconfigured the freeview side and also it corrected the fault because on setting things up afterwards the recorder did what it was supposed to do. Hope this is a help and thank you for your interest. Dave.

How do i access the Hard Drive out of a Wharfedale DVDR24HD160F 160GB HDD DVD Recorder

hmm...similar problem here. i've taken the hdd out and plugged it in to the ide port inside my pc. The problem is it's the wrong file system. Your pc will not see it. It is however just a normal hdd so you can re-partition it and give it a new file systm ie ntfs but you lose all the data :(. that's as far as i've got, hope it helps someone.
