Re: cracked screen

Not a cheap or easy fix. Recommend either selling as is on ebay or taking it in to a Authorized servicer who you trust. I have worked on many of these and by trying to fix it yourself you may just cost yourself more money.

My w205 screen was cracked and there are no controlling options. is there a way to fix the screen? Is the screen the problem? And does it have a remote control?

The only way to fix both your problems is to mail it into Alpine, the screen is laced in with ribbins and soldered by twelve tips on the circuit board. If you have years of electronic back ground you maybe able to fix the screen, the IR controller the remote maybe bad or the IR sensor is back in the head unit is a 3 pin item that maybe needs to be resoldered or a new one soldered in place of the defective one. I have the same unit and I havent had any problems?? How did you break the screen?

Screen will not come out

If you hear the motor try to run but the screen will not move then the plastic slides inside are most likely cracked and warped. This will make the screen catch on the rough edges. Not sure of the part number for the assembly to replace it but this is what I just found on my unit.

Cracked I need to buy an entire new one?

Check with Pioneer and see if it's still under warranty. Otherwise it's not going to be cost effective to fix.

Avic-z1 touch screen does not work

Is the screen cracked? Just a small crack can cause problems. When the screen is cracked and you touch it, it touch's some where else on the screen. I cracked mine, and I just changed it. It's pretty easy, all you need is a small phillips screw driver. Good luck!

Yellow screen

I can only offer a guess as to what is causing this problem. The unit's LCD screen is powered by a flat ribbon cable, which can sometimes be seen from the top of the unit as the screen is sliding out. Try observing the cable as the screen is sliding out. If you can see any cracks in the cable, it needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, you will have to send it in to Pioneer to have that done. This issue is a known problem to Pioneer. If it is indeed the flex cable, they should replace it for free with a 5-7 day wait. The screen having a yellowish tint can be a sign that this cable is about to fail. I wouldnt worry about it now if you can still see your screen fine but if the screen goes out or gets worse, I would try to send it in to Pioneer to see if they will replace that cable for you. The URL of the page that explains this issue is,,2076_310069579_395713842,00.html Good luck with your unit.
