Question about Televison & Video
Sony KP-53V15 Sound comes on picture is delayed (no distortion). Worse when colder so opened up the set warmed circuit board with hairdryer and it picture appears with much less delay. Have inspected the two fuses and soddering for any defects (Used 3x mag lens). Nothing I could see. Any suggestions other than buy a new tv. My service guys says its not worth him coming out because no replacement parts are available on the model. (Manufactured Nov 1993) Thanks, Ann S. email@example.com
So far, for what you have mentioned doing it is very proffesional, as in our shop we use a hair dryer to warm boards/components also. The other item you are missing is a can of freeze spray ( component cooler ), which is a substance, when sprayed on the board/component does just the opposite of your hair dryer, it cools the circuit. When we are looking for a thermal problem, as you are having, we heat one board at a time. When we have heated the right board and the problem corrects, we know we have isolated the bad board. Now we have to isolate the bad part and thats where the cooling Freeze Spray come in effect. You can spray a small area of the board and watch the effects of the picture to see if the problem reacures. If it does, then you can heat up that board again and ellimante the problem and again using your freeze spray, spray only a few components at a time, thus finding the bad part. It takes a few times sometime to isolate the problem, but when you do, the satisafaction of being able to repair you own set is worth the work ( thus being the " Mom, fixer of broken things". As a precaution, the freeze spray can freeze anything it come in contact with like ( small fingers, eyeballs, irrate husbands ears and childrens parts, so be extra careful when you use it) and always keep away from small children and irrate husbands. I hope this has helped and good luck
