We know internet is workingvia old modem, but when new modem/router is plugged in, the internet light does not light up. When we try to connect to the internet, message says another modem is already in use or modem is not correctly configured. Havn't a clue what to do, please some one help. Operating on XP desktop.

- It is a wireless modem router in one, a netgear one. Before we unplugged the old modem (just a little black box) the internet was working fine. We inserted the setup disc and followed the instructions. All other lights that should have been on lit up, except the internet light. When we tried to connect to internet through browser, I think it was error 663, not sure. But message was modem already in use or modem not configured properly. From the help disc it also said it could be about the network card, but not sure.Nov 09, 2009

What is the model of this Netgear combo Modem and router? I know these combo devices exist but am having a difficult time researching it. DSL? Cable?

What sort of modem and router are you using? How long has it been since the system worked?

I looked and looked here http://netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxWirelessNRoutersandGateways.aspx
for the Netgear N300 Modem-Router combo, with zero success. Is there another model number on the unit itself?
