Question about Televison & Video
I have an Aiwa VX-T145 TV-Video combi which is about 7 years old. I have to enter a pin everytime it is disconnected from the mains to able to opperate the tv. Unfortunetly I think I entered the wrong pin. As a result each time I turn it on it flashes "Protected" continuously for a few seconds and then turns off. I can't seem to find away to unprotect it. I have also lost my manual Please Help!

The safety circuit in the tv is sensing something is wrong and that is why it turn the tv off,it might be a regulator giving you more voltage that what he is supposed to give you.It should be a simple and inexpensive repair, get a qualified person to give you an estimate.

SOURCE: smartlock code
1.Press MENU to show the on-screen menu. 2. Press VOL+ or VOL- to highlight SET. 3. Press CH+ or CH- to highlight PARENTAL CONTROL. 4. Press VOL+ or VOL- to display the SECRET CODE screen. 5. Press VOL+ (on the remote) and the CH+ button on the front of the TV at the same time. 6. Press the Number buttons to enter a four-digit code. The code will appear on the screen as you enter it. The code "0000" is the default of the TV. If you have not set up a code previously, then "0000" is the code. You cannot use "0000" after you set your own code (unless you reset the code to "0000"). 7. Press MENU to save the code.

Followed Terryfic's solution. I am a DIYer and managed to order the part, desolder the old one and solder in the new one. However, when I turned it back on I got a black screen with sound. Hmmm, saw the adjustment screws but was hesitant. Ended up turning about 10 degrees one way and presto chango... Saved a $1200 upgrade to HD for a $30 part! Thanks

The blinking is an indication that the set detected a problem. The code usually indicates a bad regulator circuit. If yu can solder, you can probably fix this your self. Please let me know if you wish to attempt the repair. If not, expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range plus the local labor rate for the repair.
