TIMER LIGHT BLINKS AND THEN TURNS OFF BUT TV DOES NOT TURN ON. ANY RESOLUTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO TURN ON BUT WONT.
i have a 36" wega trinitron and the tv has just started not being able to turn on. the red standy light comes on, but the tv will not . i have unplugged the tv and replaced the batteries in the remote, but that does not seem to work. i installed a wii game game system during christmas and that is when i first noticed the problem. i don't think they are connected because when i unhook the wii, it still doesn't work. any suggestions?

My problem is very similar. We connected the Wii to the set and every thing was fine for the last 4 weeks then last night I moved it the the basement. What a beast! andyway, nothing with the moved seemed traumatice to the TV, but now when I try to turn it on sound comes out but the screen is black and the red LED light just keeps blinking indefinitley...My problem is very similar. It sounds that there is no communication with IIC bus with other ICs. Check whether the standby light blinks when you turn ON the TV by its Power Switch at it front panel. If blinks, count the number of blinks. Check this for more details about the blinking codes to Sony Wega TVs. If it does not blinks, make sure that the main system control IC has the fault.

there are 2 , one in the powersupply, one near the flyback tranformer, mostly this one goes defect.
when you heat it up with an hairdryer it will work again
There are several faults that can cause this. Shorted diodes in the high voltage, a bad flyback transformer, a shorted CRT driver IC. None of them are very easy to fix.
your tv has a problem inside..the supply that is going to the tube was been cut out... only the servicemen can do fixing your tv... there is a deefective parts...
