If this a Vista machine then you will need to download a boot disk and burn it to a CD.
I recommend Active@ Boot Disk as with this disk you will be able to change the password and gain access to the machine.
The file comes in an iso format which is a disk image so you will need a computer which has burning software installed, like Nero for example.
Once burned to a CD pop the disk in the laptop which has the password and restart it. From there you have to get the machine to boot from CD, you can do this by going into the BIOS or pressing F12 as laptop starts up. Let the boot CD load and then you can change the password.
