Question about Samsung HL-S5087W 50" HDTV
The number one thing I have found with intermitent shutdown is the lamp door switch in the up position.
This series of models came back from the factory with the switch in the up position and it needs to be in the down position.
Take a flash light and look through the slots on the lower left side of the lamp door in the back of the set. If you can see the top of switch, then, thats whats causing your problem.
Take off the door, there is a tab that holds the switch down. Reseat the door and check the switch again with a flashlight. If it is down, then the problem is solved. If it is up, try again.
If you have anymore problems or questions, reply to this post and I will respond.

Thanks for taking my post. The switch you describe, and its the only switch that I can see, is in the middle. When I try to push the switch up or down, it just resets to the middle. Any suggestions? Thanks. firstname.lastname@example.org
