Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Audio Problems TV has sound on all but 2 or 3 channels. Have tried to adjust the audio settings but when we go to 'Advanced Audio' and try to put the MTS to 'stereo' it isn't highlighted and won't let us select MTS to put it on stereo. Any ideas? We obviously can live with it but can't figure out what the problem is. Can this be a cable box problem or a TV problem? Also, one channel is broadcasting in Descriptive video (very annoying) and we can't get it turned off. Thanks.

First for the Toshiba could the SAP (Second Audio Progam) be turned on this will somtimes cause the audio to drop. And are you using the onboard tuner or does this set conect to a cable box?
Then for the Panasonic the most common problem for your fault would be the convergance curcuits are shorted and need replacment, or some other componet may be loading down the set and forcing it in to shut down, Tv's will do this to prevent further damage

im not sure i understand your problem??? however if you are having sound problems
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it
if his does not fix the problem
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any further volume control settings you will need to right click on the volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good

try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
hope this helps you

Can't change from MONO to AUTO mode

Hello
Can't make sound from mono to auto is your problem I thinks and posts this solution.
Hit the "Menu" button and surf through, come to "Sound Adjust" window.
The settings allow you to change and adjust sound in your TV. There are Bass, Treble and Balance control to adjust to your individual taste.
To adjust them
1. Press Menu button.
2. Press UP or DOWN button to select the desired item.
3. Press => or 4. Press EXIT button when finished.
When adjusting the parameter of "Balance" control, always set it to mid position to get stereo sound from both speakers. If it is set to any extreme end, there will be no output from the speaker of that side, and will hear as mono.
If you press "0" [Zero] button, you can reset the sound settings to it Factory settings.
To select 'Streo mode;
1. Press "Menu" button.
2. Press UP or DOWN button to select MTS [Multi-channel Telivision Sound].
3. Press => or [The ON AIR arrowtells you if a broadcast is in stereo AND/OR contains the SAP.
Press "Exit" button when finished.

Keep the TV in stereo mode to get the best sound quality. The sound will work in stereo

mode even if a certain broadcast is in mono sound only.

Choose the mono setting to reduce excessive noise on a certain channel or broadcast.
Selecting SAP will allow you to hear an alternative soundtrack, if one is available.

Media player audio sund problem

Don't worry, small rodents haven't set up housekeeping in Windows Media Player. Instead, your sound card's clock most likely has a timing problem. To fix the problem, try reducing the hardware-acceleration level for your audio card by doing the following:
1.
In Control Panel, open Sounds and Audio Devices.
2.
On the Volume tab, in the Speaker settings area, click the Advanced button.
3.
In the Advanced Audio Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab, and then adjust the Hardware acceleration slider control to adjust the clock timing for your sound card.
Keep in mind that, if your sound card supports multichannel (5.1) audio playback, turning off hardware acceleration (by moving the slider to None) will cause the sound card to play all multichannel audio in stereo (two speaker) sound.
If you can't fix the problem by adjusting hardware acceleration, check for updates for your sound card by doing the following:
• Check for sound-card driver updates. You should scan for updates on the Windows Update Web site and also check for updates on the Web site of your sound card maker.
• Check for Microsoft DirectX updates by scanning for updates on the Windows Update Web site.

TCL LCD TV. No sound on one channel only.

I had the same problem... try toggling through the "SAP" (multilingual audio feeds) for the channel. Mine was somehow set on "audio 3 of 3" for that channel, but there were only 2 audio feeds.

RCA 46 in rear projection

The first thing that I would check is in the audio menu to see if it is set on the SAP mode (secondary audio programming). If it is and there is no audio being broadcast on that channel, then you would have to turn SAP to off (which is usually what it is set to). Now there have been problems with the audio dropping out on regular CRT style RCA televisions where the audio would drop out, and you had to unplug the set for about 30 seconds to reset the TV, and I would try that next.
