Question about Lexar JumpDrive MP3 Player
When i turn it on, it reads "incorrect format, reformat the player!"
The solution is correct. I emailed firstname.lastname@example.org and received an email the next day with a firmware patch that reformatted my player.
Just an FYI, this did NOT work under Vista and since I had an XP media center laptop sitting next to me I didn't play with it. On the XP system it worked flawlessly. I ended up with a fully functional MP3 player again, nothing in the folder at all and it only took a minute.
Send them an email and I would expect you'd get a response within 1-2 business days. As mentioned, my response was within 18 hours.

Since I got no answer from email@example.com I looked for something else. I don't know how and I don't know why, but this worked for me:
I downloaded a trial version of acronis disk director (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/diskdirector/), installed it and after the install I rebooted my computer. The player was connected to pc during the reboot, but the pc freezed and I had to restart it manually and remove the player from pc. Then the computer booted ok. I started the acronis disk director, connected the mp3 player and suddenly, a pop-up window appeared asking "what do you want Windows to do". I went into my computer and the drive was there, fully accessible with its data uncorrupted.
It was sure magic!

To Fix the format problem call 510-413-1200 and ask them to email you the firmware update,follow the instructions and enjoy the Player

Hi gang! Thanks for your replies and suggestions for a fix to this problem.
I applied the "contact Lexar" suggestion with a twist: Lexar LiveHelp. It worked like a charm, and now (approximately 15 minutes after I first read this post) my player works like a charm again! Thank you!

I had the same problem...however the three times I contacted Lexar , they claimed they would send email with fix within 2 business days. I never heard a thing...I also tried live help...this was a few months ago...perhaps I will try again...

Connect the device in Storage Device (USB Mass Storgae) Mode and then format the storage disc to FAT you can use the DOS command: format X: /fs:fat where X: is the storage disc drive letter.
