Dishwasher not washing dishes, water not...

Could be the flood float is stuck. Try banging it with a spoon. This worked for me, believe it or not! Here is a link to a video showing this for GE dishwashers:

Hard to provide a solution without knowing the model of your dishwasher. One possible cause is that the sprayer arm is blocked. Try to take it out and give a wash under the tap in the sink.

Other possibility is that there is some obstruction to the sprayer arm from fallen cuttlery items on the base. Depending on the model of the dishwasher the worst possibility is the drive mechanism to the spray arm is broken.
