Sears came out and advised control board has to be replaced.
Washer is one year old and manf warranty just expired. Did not take out additional warranty.
Code F1 appears when you attempt to wash and washer stops
Is this something I can replace myself if I purchased the control board?
Sears cost is $515.00 including part, labor and tax. The cost of the part alone is $404.00 through Sears.
Is this worth fixing or should I call it quits and purchase a new washer
Today (4/3/09) I got a letter from Sears. They will replace the electronic control board (you know, the F-51 business) for FREE, in warranty or not. Serial #s for the Bad Board begin: CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49. Call Sears at 800-847-9083. The voices of all of us have finally been heard! There is a class action attorney firm in San Francisco looking into a legal remedy.
I never received a letter. Thanks to your post, I called, Yes, my washer falls under the "recall". Repair man supposed to come out 11/29/10. This machine has put a BAD taste in my mouth regarding Kenmore appliances and Sears in general (my first Kenmore purchase and probably my last!) However, the recall department was very friendly and hopefully the 'Good' board will resolve all the issues I've had with this machine since day one. Thank you so much for your post. I was very close (already decided on a Whirlpool) to buying..very close.

I too had the misfortune of dealing with the continuous beeping on my washer (model # 110.27062600). No code was given.I called the Sears hotline and asked for the manufacturers warranty department. I then called the recall line at (800)659-7026 and after giving my model number and serial number they discovered is was indeed recalled or being "upgraded"! They have ordered the part and are sending someone out. For those who have already paid to have it repaired I would call Sears and ask for a refund. Good luck!
Call Sears recall office. You will need your serial and model #'s which are located under the lid of the machine. They will check to see if you qualify for the upgrade. They will send you the part and set up an appointment for the repair. It is FREE!! I hope this helps and good luck!!!!!
I called (800) 659 -7026 for my washer (model #110.27087602) and it also on the recalled list (not formal announcement yet) but they will come out and fix the problem on the 8/14.
Harvey, these are not hard to replace, but check one thing before ordering the new board. If the pressure tube (plastic tubing) going to the board is pinched or blocked in any way, it will give the same code as a failed control board. I've learned the hard way on this. You can go to repairclinic.com and get a price on your board. The top consol has 3 screws, on each end and center that come off and the consol lifts up. The board sits on the right side. Just mark the connections. Catriver.
The recall line 808-659-7026 is now saying (Aug 8, 2008) that a recall has not been issued; they say there was one for a very short time but has been withdrawn while they review the problem! She (Lilly) suggested I wait until I get a letter, but if not within a month, I call back!!
I was having the same problem with my dryer and a few days ago, it gave out. I called both phone numbers 800-847-9083 and 800-659-7026 and the phones were answered by the same person, her name was Blanca. She informed me that there are no recalls for their dryers. This is BS. I am very dissapointed in their products and will no longer buy from Sears.
The so called recall numbers 800-847-9083 and 800-659-7026 ... are answered by the same people ... rhe 808 # above is a boo boo ... right this minute I am wondering if SEARS owns those phone lines and they just have poor Linda sitting there PRETENDING to look up your model #'s and giving the standard response of "No, ma'am/sir, that model has not been recalled" just to shut us up and frustrate us ... Things that make ya go hmmmmm.

I live in NJ and my cost to replace the "mother board" was $500 plus.....i've forgotten the exact amount.
I was washing a blanket and rug....not overloaded, just Unlevel in spin....I got the UL code a few times....redistributed the load and got an F code(can't remember which) and the power went out completely. The unit was 15 months old and had been used less than 70 cycles. The snide customer service rep said to me, "Well Miss, Sears gave you TWO opportunities to purchase the extended contract." Go figure.....I was a bit short with her and said, "Well, if SEARS didn't make such crap nowadays then I wouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty." I hate SEARS so much at this point. They used to be good. What happened???? I needed the machine so I dropped the $500. I now have a $1500 questionable quality washing machine.
Yea, I got a beeping "F1" code, then follow someone's suggestion to do the diagnostic steps & got "F68", said was the primary control, or the computer chip. Called Sears, no recalls. They offered a 1 yr extended warranty since the washer is just over a year old. Seeing so many people having the same problem & so frustrated in dealing with Sears, I'm looking into a lawfirm that will be interested to file a class action.
I have the same problem and my washer is only 20months old and lightly used (since I live alone)
I have the model 110.27062601 and was going crazy with the F code. I read the posting here and called the Recall line (800) 659-7026 and there is an unannounced recall on the control board.
Thanks for saving me the $500!
I am getting an F1 error code after the Kenmore Oasis HE Washer has operated for a few minutes. I have to restart it many times to get it to work. Sometimes to no avail. Now I see quite a few others have experienced the problem. I paid a thousand dollars for this thing and I had no idea it was such a lemon. This is upsetting. My old Kenmore washer lasted almost 15 years without a problem. Sears better get on the ball and take care of their customers bacause they have a lot to lose! Is there a recall on this model?
I have had the same F problems Latley it is a F51. I have to stand at the washer and open and move the load every 30 seconds or so from the time the machine reaches 32 minutes until it drains the water and then gets to the spin cycle. I called the helpline and was told my 601 model was NOT under the recall but they would send a technician out for $65 to just look at it and tell me what was wrong. Like I can't tell from all the other reviews I have read!. This is the worst washer I have ever owned and have replaced countless towels, sheets and blankets from the machine ripping the sides. The clothes have marks on them from either the he detergent or the fabric softener not rinsing off. If Sears doesn't repair it for less than $100 (Which doesn't appear to be at all likely) I am throwing it the dump! IT is absolutely not worth the cost I spent on this machine less than 2 years ago.
I have the same problem with my Kenmore Elite HE washer. I get the F1 code when it starts to wash. Then I have to restart about 3 or 4 times before it will wash. Piece of junk. I just called the recall center and this washer is not included in any recall. She says we can't do anything for you. Yeah, right. I won't be able to do any purchasing from them if this problem is not fixed. My washer is 20 months old and this has been going on for a couple of months.
I purchased my Kenmore Oasis HE top load washer in January of 2007. As I was washing clother today and I got an F! code. It had never happened before today. What does the F! mean? I tried doing what the trouble shooting in the manual told me to do and It resolves itself after I turn it off and start it again. Sometimes it works after one try and other times I have to do the step twice or three times before it starts up again.
I'm not getting the F1 or F! code, but I am having serious problems with my Oasis HE Washer now. It's less than 2 years old (no warranty of course...I figured that by spending $1,000 on a name-brand appliance, I'd have a good 5 years of use, hopefully 10 or more...shouldn't have gone to Sears, that's for sure). At any rate, my washer no longer spins. If it's "washing", it's just pouring in water, if it's "spinning", it's just pouring more water in, and the only thing it does is throw water in, and drain it out. Nice engineering Kenmore! You guys ****.
I am absolutely disgusted with Sears and will never purchase anything from them again. My washer (Mod 110.27087602) is a little over a year old and it is giving me every error code there is including ones that are not even in the manuel. I get F51, 80, F2, C0-9. Yesterday I had to unplug it b/c it was doing it's own thing even though I wasn't even washing anything at the time. It actually turned itself on so it could beep all day and flash error codes at me. Absolutely ridiculous. I called Sears and was transfered from recall (not under any recall) to customer service (no help) to parts to find out how much this control panel would cost ($242.15 plus $109 for the repair man to come out). At that cost I am going to Best Buy and purchasing a new one for $314 and again I will never purchase from Sears again. PS. While on the phone about my washer, they informed me that there was a recall on my refridgerator light (never noticed that as a problem but did notice that my freezer doesn't close properly and that is not covered, of course.) Do not buy from Sears!!!!

Same thing F1.....F you Sears.....what a crappy product. You should issue a recall on this machine and stop ripping people off. I will make sure EVERYONE i know is aware of what a ripoff you are and how crappy your products are. Can you say BANKRUPTCY? you will be there soon you crooks!!!!!!!!
Shame on Sears.
Yes i been having that problem since i buy it on 2007 f1 code came out 5 months later get some one from sears to fixed, year later same code came back on call sears they said i need to make appointment for some one came to fixed there is no warranty from the last time there fixed, don't know what to these with these matter.
My washer is also leaking from the bottom. None of the hoses are leaking. I believe the tub has somehow shifted down. Maybe brackets have come loose. Washer is still working fine except for the leaking.
