My Ipod nano won't sync my play count

I recently got a new computer and managed to transfer my song library to the new computer. I've been able to connect and manage my ipod's song list but I can't get it to update my play count and last played details which it used to do on my old computer.
I've looked through all the options and have even updated the software and reset the ipod to factory settings but nothing has worked so far.
