Hi,
Please don't give up on Linux. It plays mp3's. There are a whole lot of mp3 players out there for Linux. Most of the linux's I have used been able to play mp3's out of the box without installing anything. I have Ubuntu and it defaults to musicbox which is nice. Tell me what version of Linux you have and I'll hook you up.

Songs are loaded on to mp3 player, but they wont play, it just says no file, but when hooked up to pc i can pull the songs from the mp3 player, so i know the songs are on there

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

I got a Riptunes MP3 player, I'm trying to download songs on there from iTunes. The player says there's no file when I try to listen to it.

MP3 players will not play any iTunes music because they are not compatible with the file format. iTunes uses a modified ACC file and the only players that will play them are apple products.

How come when I plug my new mp3 player in my car, it only plays the preloaded songs that came with theproduct? I have an MP727-8G

you have to have the songs you loaded in the same root folder as those songs in order for the head unit to find them. Connect the player to your computer and open the files to view. Browse your way to the preloaded songs and simply move the others to that same folder. While your there, you may want to delete the preloaded stuff that you dont want.

hmm. The hard drive itself could be messed up. The hard drive can easily be formatted by right clicking and formatting it. Though I am taking the easy way out here to fix the problem.

Cant see files in the system

the sansa players have 2 usb modes. mtp and msc. when you are saving songs in one mode, you will not be able to browse the files in the other mode. the preloaded tracks are usually in mtp mode. To switch mode, go to Settings in your MP3 player. Then choose USB. Auto Detect is also MTP.
