Have exactly the same problem - very disapointing that it will not play a HD DVD - looking at the specs it does say this though so unless a software update has been released to allow HD play cannot see what can do. Living in hope though that someone out there has an answer to the problem?

Apparently it will only play HD Dvds not Blueray, the only solution would seem to buy a new unit. Other buyers beware.

This machine won't play HD-DVD. What it Will do is to play standard discs and upconvert them to your HDMI format...accordianman

Panasonic DVD recorder DMR EX 75 works fine but goes into standby after a couple of minutes whether it s playing or recording .

The problem is in the power supply, usually caused by a open capacitor, in some cases it developes a bulge at the top making it easier to spot.

i have a panasonic dvd rcorder / video combi model DMR-EZ49VEB. I have recorded something on DVD, which is 4 hours in duration, and I want to edit the recording and split it into parts. I follow the manual, but when I press EDIT the option to split isnt even there? I am confused, it is SUCH a difficult manual to deciphre, but the only 2 options there are "Edit title name" and "Change Thumbnail". The others are not listed. the disc is not copy protected or locked and is of sufficient duration to split the contents. HELP PLEASE :(

DVD player/ recorder problems... PLEASE HELP!!!

I have now had two Panasonic recorders 3 years apart and both have gone down with this same fault.

It's a shame as they are a fantastic recorder, I would have thought Panasonic would have put this right by now. It now 5 years on since I bought my first one and it sounds as if they still have the same fault.

Why the hell can't they just fit a standard computer dvd drive that’s cheap to replace, and not this abortion they fit.

I was looking on E-bay for Panasonic recorders that where faulty and found around twenty.

ALL WITH THE SAME FAULT

"DVD drive faulty"

I’m now looking for a new one but don’t know what to do as I have a ton of discs that need to be finalized, may just forget about them and keep clear of Panasonic in future.
