Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

PAPER JAM My HP PSC 2355 tells me there is a paper jam whenever i put paper in it. I was printing some documents one day, having no problems, then suddenly it started showing this message. As far as I can see, there is no paper stuck in the printer, and otherwise it seems to be working fine. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jennifer Adams

when I try to print it picks up the paper but continues to send it throught the rollers for approx 5 inches, it then shows an error message saying paper jam. When I press OK it repeats the same process

My printer was working just fine two days ago. Now, everytime I put a piece of paper in the tray it feeds through about half way and then I get the paper jam error message. When I press 'OK' the paper comes right out only for more to get fed through and jammed

SUGGESTION #1 The print carriage might be jammed. Follow these steps to correct the problem:

  1. With the power on, lift the print cartridge access door. The print carriage should move to the access area located on the right. If the print carriage stays all the way left, reset the unit by unplugging the then plugging in the power cord. If the carriage still does not move to the right, continue with the steps below.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
  3. Remove both print cartridges.
  4. Push the print carriage slightly to the left and then to the right to verify that the print carriage is not jammed. If the print carriage will not move, check for obstructions under and around the carriage.
  5. Close the print cartridge access door.
  6. Plug in the power cord.
  7. When the " Insert Print Cartridges " message displays, open the print cartridge access door and insert the print cartridges. Verify that both cartridges are seated correctly and lock into position.
SEGGUSTION #2 cleaning rollers Over time dust and paper fibers will accumulate on the paper feed rollers. This can cause paper feed problems. Follow the steps below to clean the rollers: Figure 3: Paper feed rollers PAPER JAM - c00212278.jpg
  1. Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove the rear access door (as describe above in this document).
  3. Clean each roller using a clean lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred). Rotate the rollers to clean the entire surface.
  4. Verify that the paper feed rollers on the rear access door are clean and rotate easily.
  5. Re-seat the rear access door.
  6. Plug in the power cord and turn on the all-in-one.
If these suggestions don't fix the problem feel free to write back to me. Try to be a little more specific i.e does paper feed properly, error message shows with paper/without paper or both, do any of the lights flash when this happens, have you tried diiferent paper sizes ot types. Have you taken it apart to check for any obstructions?

On mine one of the gears on the left hand side that drives the main roller had stripped the plastic splines on the gear boss. Presumably a paper jam caused this stripping. Araldite glued it back. But it’s a difficult job to disassemble to reach the gear and so you need to be familiar with this sort of job. It has to be glued back in the right place left to right so that the attached encoder disc lines up with it sensor slot.

I had a similar fault with another model of printer. Don’t remember the model now.

it could be somehow i think there is still a presence of paper on the printer, the sensor that senses the jamming mode was somehow interrupted or tripped, ( even if ther is no paper) if you could check this again and find out it would be helpul to identify what causes your problem.

cancel all docs on your PC also

hope this helps
