top loading washing machine wont spin - it will work sometimes, I think it can be getting over heated, if I let it rest it will spin.

Try to open the back of your machine and take alook at the belt (see if it is alligned or too loose,tighten it a littel bit by adjusting the bolt of the motor) and the capacitor seeif it is not in shape , it should be like a tube , straight not bulky, if bulky , replace it
