My last update froze and failed over and over. I have Vista. I turned off UAC which i almost never do. It still failed. I had to download and install manually if failed because it could not get into some parts of C: drive on a third attempt it finally installed. at one point i found the temporary install folder and right clicked and went to properties and unchecked read only for the folder. Success! :)
