Re: Picture receiving

Nancy it seems software problem in your cell. It is advisable if it is in guaranty then hand over it to service station. Other skilled technician also reflash it by SETOOL, Cruiser Box or any other compitable device he got. Sony-Erric phones are well secure by its CID and could not be repaired without proper knowledge. So, be careful and don't try anything else.Sorry for my english and do vote if found it useful.

When I send a picture from my phone, it says it's sent, but the person I send it to never receives the picture.

For picture messaging there are a couple of things you and the other person needs...

1, A MMS capable phone, e.g a phone able to send and receive picture messages.

2, The correct MMS settings, both you and your friend needs settings for picture messaging, just like you need settings for going onto the net.

3, On some networks, the service has to actually be turned on by the network. e.g some networks who are behind dont have the service turned on for everyone you have to actually call them and make sure picture messaging is enabled on your account.

My first thing to check would be number 2, make sure you and your friend have the correct settings for sending and receiving picture messages, if they dont have the settings on there phone, even if your phone does then they will not receive the picture.
There are a couple of ways to get the settings.
1, You can search for the correct settings on the net for your network and make and model of handset and then manually enter them (slow)
2, Most decent manufacturers have an option on their website e.g Nokia, Sony Ericsson, to select your phone model, type in your phone number and network and have the settings sent directly to you.
3, You can call the network and get them to send the correct settings to your handset.

Unable to send/rec pictures SE W850i

I think the problem here is with your connection. I understand that you have the right settings from your operator...however you should check with them to see if your line is data enabled for MMS (this is how your pictures are an MMS message).

Make sure your subscription covers the desired service(s), and that the selected carrier (e.g. GPRS/EDGE) is available in the area. If you still have problems sending or receiving MMS (picture messages) or accessing the mobile Internet/WAP on your phone, you probably need new settings installed. Go to your mobile carrier website and follow the instructions to receive the settings in an SMS message. You can also contact your operator for the correct settings.

Receiving picture messages

The MMS settings provided by your network service provider don't all work with each other. Some are compatible with your network some are not, if it's not, you get a msg giving you the URL where you can pick up your pics.
Also the pic taken on a particular format ie. Sony Ericsson w810i sent to a Nokia 1100, wont work because one phone has a large colour screen the other has a B/W small screen, so the Nokia 1100 would not be able to open the file.

Well first of all you need the settings to be correct on the phone. Go to for this, it will be on the support page. You need to make sure that you have your WAP settings ( are you able to connect to the mobile internet?) then you will receive a text message with instructions, once this is done you will do the same thing with the MMS (picture messaging) settings. Once both of these text messages have been received and set succesfully you need to first send a picture message before you can receive one.

Picture messages

Yes, you will need to send a text to your operator (O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile etc.) to get your MMS and other settings.
You should be able to obtain the number from the operator's website by searching for "Get Settings".
