    Hello,

When I put original discs into my unit it says that "this disc cannot be played in this region". My discs used to work perfectly before up until now. I did not try to region hack my unit. I did not use a lense cleaner either. How do I set my region number? My region number is 2.

Various issues can cause drives to occasionally balk at writing optical discs. These run the gamut of physical, hardware, and software troubles.

Inappropriate or dirty media may be to blame. Make sure to match the type of recordable disc to the drive, and check each disc for fingerprints or other contaminants. If a disc is dirty, wipe it with a clean, soft cloth in a straight line from the center hole outward. Try a quality optical drive cleaning disc if you suspect dust contamination on the drive’s laser lens.

Some discs don’t perform well with certain drives, even within their rated speeds. Try recording at a slower speed and then with a different brand of disc. Also, on PCs, verify that the temporary file storage area on the hard drive used by the burning software has enough free, defragmented space. Allocate at least 5GB for a DVD (9GB for a double-layer [DL] disc) and about 1GB for CD burning.

I read on a forum that someone bought the info from http://www.dvdunlocks4u.com/ and it was only $8.99, and it worked to make their SC-DT100 multi-region. There was no "special remote" or "Special disk" needed. They will just e-mail you and tell you exactly what you need to do.

That may be your cheapest/quickest solution.

Hi,

What happens when you put in an original disc? Are these the same original discs that you have used in the past on this unit? Did you try to region hack your unit? Did you try using a lens cleaner?

Your unit should be set to region 1. Are the original discs from another region?

You can get a DVD/CD lens cleaner set from most electronics/computer shops. Just go to your local electronics/computer store to buy one.

Regarding region free...you will need to purchase a Panasonic service disc.

There is no way to make your unit region free just by punching in codes on your remote. You need a panasonic service disc. You can get the disc from here:

Hi Zainab

The issue usually related to more than one possibilities. First possibility; the obstacle in front of laser beam lens. Sometime by natural causes the DVD lens collect tiny amount of dust which makes the laser reflection on CD weaker. since copied DVDs has different track structure it might be better reflected.

Second possibility is your region code has been changed. Copied DVDs usualy come with region "0". You might try to set your region again.

You may perform lens cleaning by obtaining an easy to find DVD cleaner set.

Please post if you have further questions

Good Luck

How do i connect my sytem directly to the tv not just the dvd player?

Connect to the audio out of the TV, assuming you have a RCA audio out (red/white) on the TV. (Audio out of the TV to one of the Audio in of the SC-DT100)

The manual for the SC-DT100 is available from Panasonic here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Audio/Home-Theater/Home-Theater-Systems/model.SC-DT100 .

Some new TVs only have digital audio out, this isn't compatible with this home theater system's inputs.

I hope this helps.

I am in Australia and have a Panasonic SC-HT878 DVD player that plays PAL DVDs fine through my TEAC TV but when I play NTSC DVDs I only get a black and white picture. How do I fix this so my NTSC DVDs play...

There should be a setting on the DVD's menu for output of picture. You should look under colour settings, to see if it has got NTSC output. You should also check your TV it might not be set to NTSC aswell. You can look in the user manual of the DVD to see if says anything about NTSC playback. If you have lost the manual you can download it for free on the Panasonic website.
If it won't playback NTSC discs, I'd guess you can get an adapter from somewhere.

It wont play dvds!!! Help!!! Panasonic SC-HT520

You can try a CD/DVD Cleaner Disk ($3-$5). Some sell for $15, don't know if you'll get better results. If it doesn't work, then you have a laser alignment issue that needs calibrating. The labor is likely to cost more than a new DVD player.

PANASONIC Home cinema SC-DT100 - Flat cable connection

Hi, when you say it doesn't work, will it just not play/read the disc? Mine has to be "initialized" every time or it shows "No Disc". To initialize I turn the unit on then press and hold "Stop" on the unit and the "10-" button on the remote, then it works fine.
