On a D61 I managed to solve this without dismantling the door!
If you look carefully in the hole where the white catch fits you can see the shaft it rocks on. I put a small screwdriver in here and levered it forwards. It didn't want to stay so I put another screwdriver behind the white plastic bit, removed the original screwdriver, and continued to prise the white plastic bit forward until it clicked and stayed. I reckon it is caused by slamming the door. Don

I had the same problem, so I took the door apart as explaned above, found it was gunged up with residue from the washihg cycles. Gave it a good clean, while the part was disconected of course, and hay presto! the door works like new again.

Firstly, thanks Craig. Followed ur instructions.
However, my solution was happily easier although I completed Craigs solution without success.

Above the catch on the main body there is a "D" ring of wire which the catch engages. It is adjustable, backwards and forwards. It is held by a screw. My screw was loose so every time you closed the door the ring moved back stopping it engaging with the catch.

Hope this helps

Think I've found it.

I've taken the front door apart - their are about 10 screws on the inside of the dishwasher. Once these have been loosed (together with the two larger screws which hold the catch in place. You can see the catch.

The catch is spring loaded, mine was stuck in the closed door state. Therefore, when the door gets closed the spring is too far from the metal pin to hold shut.

I simply forced the spring to be open and put everything back together.

My door now closes fine.

Hope this helps you.

May I ask how you simply forced the spring to be open? I can't seem to do it for my dishwasher. I have the panel off, looking at the door lock with the spring but can't see how to force it open.

Ge dishwasher leaking

Check the door seal carefully for accumulated food debris or grease build up. If its a built in model with a wooden door panel, make sure the door gasket closes fully before the wooden panel makes contact with the cabinet - sometimes poor adjustment here prevent s the door gasket from closing fully. Water or rinse aid leaks from the machine must be treated seriously and mended, as they pose a significant fire risk. Rinse aid tends to dissolve electrical wiring insulation!
You may need to adjust the door catch on integrated machines to ensure the door closes correctly.

I have a Diplomat ADP8234 and the door won't close properly. It appears to be a problem with the catch. I also can't set a program but I think it might be linked to the catch problerm. Any advice

Hi, I have the same problem and when I use a screwdriver to flip the door catch to what looks like a closed position the dishwasher works fine but once finished the same problem is back until I reset the door switch again. Did you ever find a soloution please? Is it the door catch or the control board at fault?

Hello,
Have a look at the bottom spray arm and check the ends of the arm for splitting as this will cause the water to be directed at the door lower section and leak.Try taking arm out and run for a short while and see if it stops the leak.If still no good check that door is closing fully.

Two problems: soap cover and seal?

Door leaked because of a plastic bearing ($4.10 part) on the lower arm causing water inside to surge and splash out the vents on the bottom of the door. Soap cover problem was a corroded spring caught on a plastic part inside the door panel. The spring actually broke and now seems to work fine because there was another spring helping to do the same job that is now allowed to work.

My SHY56A05UC Basch dishwasher runs and dose not shut off

The dishwasher is stuck in drain mode because there is water in a catch leak area underneath, it may have been caused by soap suds over flow or disposal backup. Remove bottom kick plate and vacuum out any water, then run dishwasher again and look for water leaks.

I had to slide the dishwasher forward (undercounter installation)and tip it forward as far as possible. Water leaks onto floor, but then the internal controller seems to reset and the ASKO now works normally again. What kind of idiot would design a control module that does not incorporate a power-off interlock? FAIL FAIL FAIL - Bad, ASKO, Bad. Go to your room.

My belling dishwasher wont start, the lights are on but when I press programme the red light no longer skips along the options , it simply doesnt appear.

Hi just trying to solve a similar problem. My machine would turn on but would not fill. It could be that your cold water filter is blocked. If no or reduced water pressure then the machine will not operate correctly. Take off back panel and you should see the filter assembly. GIve this a clean and see what happens.
We have 14 of these dishwashers and so far they have all proven to be very reliable machines. This is the first issue in 4 years.
