If you have no indicator light on the TV at all, the first place to look will be the power supply, if you do have light, then at least the 5v standby power supply is working which supplys the power to the controller board, when it receive the ON command from the remote or from the power button, the controller board will send out the ON signal to the main power supply section to supply the power to the rest of the circuit. So 5v standby voltage is a must. You may have bad capacitors in the power supply. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

dropped remote and broke it so brought universal remote and friend got it going. Then week later stopped working so changed batteries (even though new ones were already used) but it started working again,now week later stopped working again..What could be the reason? Sometimes I lay remote on heating pad?Could that be a problem?
