Re: burning

Check to see if the stop button is stuck/jammed down. Gently press it a few times to free it.

DVDirect recorder. waiting for input signal? It shows the video on the screen but i push the record button and it stops and says waiting for input signal?! help!!!!

HAD the same problem! Called sony and it was fixed for me. I had a/v wires hooked up from my camcorder and from my vhs. I could see the video on the DVDirect screen. I would hit record and screen would go black and say "waiting on input signal". The fix: 1. turn the unit on. 2. Hold the on/off button for 30 SECONDS. (YEP, believe it or not) When I hooked the wires back up and did the same thing I had been doing. IT WORKED!!!! Hope it works for you!

Is it possible to copy 3 short Hi-8 tapes onto one DVD+R disc?

Yes...First chose the appropriate Record Quality based on the total length of all 3 videos you want to transfer. Next using a RCA component cable, connect the Yellow, Red and White from the Hi-8 camcorder to the DVDirect RCA inputs. After each tape has finished, just press the red record button...Press it again when the next tape your want to record begins. When all are done prrss the stop button (small button above the record button) and finalize as normal.

"Invalid Video Found" HDR-CX7 and VRD-MC5 DVD Recorder

The same happend to me. The camera contains informations of videofiles, which are no more present on the camera (were deleted from a computer). You are not able to record in full disk mode, or any other mode, which includes these videos. These missing files can be easily recognised, as the camcorder is not able to play them. Try to get rid of these "files", or ommit them from the recording list.

Recording from DVR.

There is a firmware update posted on the Sony support web site. It takes care of the copy protect error. However, i have encountered an error where the recorder doesn't identify the input signal. It posts the message "waiting for input signal." I have no solution for this one yet.
