Can connect to internet via browser, but

can connect to internet via browser, but applications trying to access internet can't see connection. No firewall is running either. Tried fixing with winsocket and/or tcp/ip fix programs. Nothing will fix. Any ideas?

download and run the dial-a-fix if you are using windows xp

or copen the internet explorer, click on the tool/internet option and select the advance tab and click on the reset to reset the setting after that it should work.
