Question about Electrolux EOB5600 Ultrafan Electric Single Oven
There was an electrical smell when the oven was in use, then the unit stopped working. I took the oven out of the housing to find that the neutral cable had burnt right through in the terminal on the back of the oven! I'm not sure what to do with the oven as its not under guarantee (2 years old bought from new) or whether it is able to be repaired. The plastic terminal which secures the live, earth and neutral cables is black and cracked. I guess i'm lucky it didnt catch fire! Any ideas would be greatly received. thanks.
Goto home depot, lowes and get some ceramic wire nuts and heat tape and electrical tape.cut the wires back on both sides of the terminal block.bypass the t-block and connect the wires with the wire nuts wrap the heat tape then electrical tape on each one.if you have access to a amp meter take readings to make sure the amp draw isnt too high.i would think the wires just burned up from either a loose connection or the heat of the oven.this should solve your problem.

Hello purrpplee - If the smell is coming out of the oven vent, more than likely it is something inside the oven that is creating the odor. Also, keep in mind that new cooking products can create a burning electrical odor when the bake and broil cycles are used as any residual coating or film on the oven liner and elements burns off. However, if odor increases consult a professional for an accurate diagnosis.
