I continue to get Printer Maintaince tip pop up

I continue to get the Printer Maintaince Pop Up. I contacted HP who told me to log on as an ADMIN but I am not and don't know how to do that. They then told me to re-load and to not accept the HP Extended Capability option which I did but I continue to get this pop-up. It is just plain annoying.
Thanks.

I have the same problem. I believe that it can be fixed by resetting a counter, but I have no idea how to do that and can't find the solution at HP. My IT person is checking on it and I'll post if she has the answer.

My suggestion would be to reinstall the printer drivers. Completely uninstall, restart and then install. I came into the similar issue and it worked.

Thanks

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Thank you for contacting FixYa for your printer inquiry.
We have had this problem before. If you install the driver from the hp site, the dot4 port is not installed properly. We had to clean all the dot4 entries out of the registry and install the printer from the cd.
Remove Dot 4 Port Steps:
  1. Click "Start" and then right-click "Computer." Click "Properties" on the pop-up menu.
  2. Click the "Device Manager" link on the left side of the new window.
  3. Double-click the "Ports" sub-heading in "Device Manger." Highlight a USB port that includes "DOT 4" as part of the device description. Right-click on the port devices name, and then click "Uninstall" on the pop-up menu.
  4. Uninstall other existing "DOT4" ports using the same method.
  5. Restart the computer and log in to Windows.
  6. Reinstall the driver software that came with your printer's CD.
The printer now functions properly in Windows.
USB problems are usually fixed by reinstalling the driver, just reboot the machine.
Better still hook the machine up to a LAN this is a network printer.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to rate this printer solution.

Some computers have a specific moment durring power up/boot the f8 key has to be pressed, if not at that specific time the computer will ignore the command and continue booting as if a comand was never issued.....Try pressing F8 repeatedly from the very second you turn the laptop on eventually you should hear a beep every time you press the key. Continue pushing it and it should pop up the boot menu. Also for some strange reason (although its rare) F-10 is used depending on the bios manufacturer, I doubt your laptop uses the f10 key and am fairly certian its a timing issue with the command

Printer (HP5650) has full ink cartridges.window sez almost empty

That is normal, the printer "sees" the cartridges by their serial number, so when you pop in a refilled cartridge, the printer thinks you have put in old cartridges and continue to show low ink level. When you pop in a new one, with a new serial code, the ink level will reset, showing that the cartridges are full again.
You can try this:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.
Doesn't always work, but you can try.

A teacher in our building has an HP 5940 and continuously gets a Maintenance Tip message about cleaning her printer. We have tried numerous things but can't seem to get the message to stop popping up...

You have to go through the user manual and there is a procedure to turn the message off. It comes on after an x amount of pages have been printed. If you do not have a manual contact hp.com or retrevo.com to get one online free. God bless.

HP Photosmart C6180 goes Offline in Vista

Solution A:

Download and install this Critical Update for your printer directly from HP.

Solution B:

There have been cases where if the PC is turned off or goes into hibernate this can occur. To work around this issue the "HP CUE DeviceDescovery Service" must be disabled:

1) Click on the "Start Menu" icon on the bottom left corner of the screen, type "services.msc" in the "Start Search" edit box, and hit enter. This will trigger Vista to pop-up a "User Account Control" dialog to prompt for permission to continue. Click "Continue" to allow Vista to open the Services management console application.

2) The Services management console application is made up of 2 panels. The right panel contains a list of all services available on the system. Scroll thru this list and look for a service called "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service".

3) Right-click on "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service" and select "Properties" to open the "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service Properties" dialog.

4) From the "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service Properties" dialog, click on the "General" tab. If the "Service status" shows that the service has started, click on the "Stop" button to force the service to stop.

5) Change the "Start type" to "Disabled" and click on the "OK" button on the bottom of the dialog to apply the changes.

Solution C:

1. Set the printer to a static IP address
2. Logon to the machine as the administrator or with admin rights.
3. Remove/Reinstall the printer using the IP address

Continue to receive "Remove and check black cartridge" message

I would call hp again. The cartridge you purchased is covered for a one year warranty and they should be able to replace to make sure issue is not with the cartridge itself. Since this is not a computer issue tell them you have a mac and you will get to Canada support instead of India.

Ok you should try being logged onto the admin account, having admin rights is not the same as being logged on to the admin account.

Most problems with Vista seem to be easily over ridden by being logged on to the Admin account.

Note: This may or may not be the solution to your problem, so please take the time to rate the solution, thank you.

HP Product Registration pop-up

This is caused by an entry in the Task Scheduler. To get rid of it, you need to be logged on with Administrator priveleges, then do the following:
1. Click Start, type the following in the search field and press enter: Task Scheduler
2. Cllick Continue to confirm permission.
3. Click Task Scheduler Library in the Left column.
4. Click on any of the following in the center column:
a. InternetService Offers (If your pop-up is regarding the internet)
b. Registration (If your pop-up is regarding registering your PC)
c. Service Plan (If your pop-up is regarding warrenty)
d. Extended Service (If your pop-up is regarding extended service plans)

BTW, notice that the idiot that programed these entries set them to trigger every 30 minutes, indefinatly.

Hope this helps.
