my husband wants to connect his eos350d to the laptop to view live shot photographs - help!! please!! does he need anything special or will the camera do it for him??

i dont like the idear of hooking a camera up to a computer,,,can he just take out the smart card and put this into a card reader,,,if the computer blows up the camera as they do some times its a new camera, if its just a card thats a lot cheeper,,,windows should read a smart card reader and display any photos on it,
