Can you help the readers by posting how to configure the modem. I did try what has been mentioned here but no luck. I do see that built-in-ethernet is connected but cant to internet from firefox and safari. I came to india hoping I could do work from mac os x on extended vacation but sadly cant get to internet. Feels like things are in stone age here. Can you help the readers by posting how to configure the modem. I did try what has been mentioned here but no luck. DataOne is the BSNL's broadband services trademark, not the modem company's name. Just below the Data One name you will have the modems model no eg: UT-300R2U or so, Post back with this details, If you are connecting thro the network cable you dont need any drivers, you just have to configure the modem. if you are using the usb cable, you have to install the software driver that came with the modem cd. I can help you, just post the model of your modem as i requested.

when you connect your mobile for data storage...
check the model number
it will look like MTK-6412 or something like this....
google for the drivers of particular model number...
download them..
connect your mobile using com port
install the corresponding drivers...
create a connection using your mobile as a modem
and you are good to go for the internet
why people worry.for driver to days we can get many types driver serching google, before few month i was same. to days i am down lodinging many laptop driver from net. in free for my lab ,thanks
when you are on Cable Internet with a "modem" only connected directly to the computer, what the ISP see is the computer's MAC Address (command prompt -> type ipconfig and hit enter).
put a router (which has it's own MAC Address) in-between and the ISP wont let you cause it sees the router not the computer.
check physical connection: cable modem -> router -> computer(hard wire for this troubleshooting)
access the d-link gui and locate the “Clone MAC Address" button (supposed to clone the computers MAC Address - verify if it's the same), save settings & reboot the router.
I
also purchased CDMA 1x but i have good speed. change modem setting put
"DNS" 8.8.8.8 & "Alternate DNS" 8.8.4.4 and type in "Static Ip
address" 8.8.8.8.now connect internet check speed.it's not high speed
we are satisfied.bye.
no new driver or update needed
after installation of vista, copy your old driver cd on hard drive,
click properties on setup(aam6000ug driver or ... ) file and select compatibility and change the mode to windows xp sp2, then enjoy your win vista
