Sony KDF-42WE655. Screen goes dark.

I have a Sony KDF-42WE655 rear projection TV. The screen goes dark and the sound cuts off and the green standby light starts flashing. Then sometimes the screen comes on for a few seconds and goes dark again. Is this the lamp?
