Indesit WIL82 (AUS), door light out

Indesit WIL82 (AUS), will start cycle (all programs), will fill, agitate and then will do any of the following: 1) continue to drain cycle, begin spin and stay on spin cycle.
2) stop, door light extinguish, and current stage of cycle/program (eg rinse/spin etc) remains lit (solid).
In the former, the drum spins up and appears to complete the spin cycle and then restart the cycle.
The latter the machine just stops, with no door light. A couple of times I tilted the machine side ways and the door light came back on and for the phase of the cycle and continued, but would not go through to the next stage of the program.
