Hello!

Laser on cd rom is bad, but you have one potenciometar near laser (small), and you can try fix it (turn around softly).
If you still have the same problem, you can change the laser, but it is the best solution buy another.

It might need to be replaced. Check the CD type. There are also CDs that certain drives does not accept. Check if it has a + or - sign beside it. Also check if your CD-ROM can read a + or - CD type. But usually, if this is the problem, I usually recommend replacing the CD-Rom drive. If you really want to repair it then try the motors inside, it could be malfunctioning. If you'd rather replace it, try buying the one that can read +/- CD. I also recommend buying a "DVD-RW +/-" instead of an ordinary CD-ROM. It can function and read all CD or DVD with a "+" or a "-" type. You can also burn CD or DVDs using this.

Have a Sony cdp-cx400 that jumps drive belt on cd loading. Is there a preset position, ie. fully CW? CCW? Belt cleaned? Please advise. Thx.

We used to wash the belt with alcohol . Also piercing on the inside plastic where the belt sits keeps the belt in there . Either should work . If u can get a new belt would better above remedies are short time repair just incase you won't be able to find the belt . 12_27_2013_10_52_18_pm.png

My Sony xr-c5100 car stereo wont play any cds and keeps showing a e99 fault on the display can you please tell me what that is . Thankyou

It is possible that the mechanism is jammed and so there is no loading of the carriage to the system. when the tracks are selected please try and hear if there is noise of the loading of the CD. If not there is a failure of the drive, failure of the loading section both of which needs a mechanical check within.
Please also have the optical head cleaned.

Loads disc and motor runs a few seconds and player says no disc we have cleaned the player with a cleaning disc and have cleaned the laser light with Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol

Try cleaning the head guide shaft with alcohol and a Q-tip if you can reach it. It is the shaft that the head slides back and forth on. It will sometimes not let the head home and that is where the first track of information is that identifies the disk to the player.

Cd/dvd drive will not read or load discs

POSSIBLE solution... (don't shoot the messenger on this one, lol!)

I'm sure you have tried, but have you cleaned your optics lately?

Using a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol, and GENTLY rotate the swab across the lens, rotating it in the opposite direction you are wiping. This should "lift" any dust or grime from the lens. I would also clean the tray with a soft lint-free cloth (using an air-can just moves the dirt around, doesn't solve the problem)

Hope this helps!

Samsung sound bar stays on loading.

Have a look at this solution: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1942837-dvd_player_reads_no_disc_shows_loading. I used a cotton bud with isopropyl alcohol to clean around and inside the mechanism then cleaned and inserted a DVD.

LG GSA H55L DVD READ PROBLEM

It is possible there is a bottle neck in your system stopping it from allowing the dvd to play.

The DVD drive is only one part of it. There is the cable to the motherboard, CPU load, memory load, Video card being used etc.

If the drive is connected to another DVD/CD drive on the same cable, try unplugging it first and see if it improves. Also if it is running on the same cable as a hard drive, your main hard drive in particular, then try to get it onto it's own cable.

Check the software running it is not in software mode using it's particular config section within the program as well. If your video card supports hardware mode for video playback, then that will reduce system power being used by the CPU and the memory systems.

My dual layer DVD burner wont read any media

When was the last time you cleaned the dust out of the laser head? Or your PC, for that matter? Just asking.

There are cleaner disks that work sometimes, or you can go in with a cleaner foam swab with a little alcohol on it. Worth a try.
