Computer locks up

it does not seem to matter if im offline or online every so often the curser will not move and the keyboard locks up so i cant do anything except turn everything off and start up again.im on windows xp not sure if that matters but it is really annoying having to keep switching off and on,any ideas how i can cure this please?

Do a search for a good system cleaner of hacks viruses and malware and should do this all in one simple run tool.
You need to look for COMBIFIX.exe 3.39mb when you run it turn off all antivirus checkers and leave on your internet in the first stages of the setup.
This will sort your system and speed it up too. This must be done at your own risk, one thing i have noted it does is to provide a recovery option at boot and it changes your internet options back to internet explorer.
