My laptop speaker won't stop buzzing. It began after a tried recording into it from a microphone amp. Rebooting does nothing to stop it and no other sound will play through the speaker or through the output jacks. Also the buzzing cannot be heard through the output jacks. I have noticed that when I plug headphones into the output jack and wiggle them around inside, it can alter the volume of the buzzing. Please help! Thanks

- Maybe to clear things up, the buzzing is actually permanent, not just when the amp is plugged in. I just disconnected the built-in laptop speakers to stop the sound, but no sound will come out of the output jacks either still.
Could it be that I fried something inside my laptop when I plugged the amp into the recording/input jack?
A buzzing/humm sound could be a earth loop problem. This is caused by connecting amp equipment into different mains power outlets.
Use a power board and connect all your amps and laptop to the one power board.

- Yes it is possible, the mic input is for un-powered microphones only and a powered mic could have damaged the mic input in the laptop.
