you need to check if the drive is Cd rom or a DVD rom if you try to play a DVD on a Cd rom it wont play, IF you are doing everything right then
Go to my computer i mean right click on my computer and click on properties and then hardward tab >> and device manger>> and under DVD and cd right click on it and uninstall it and restart the system
change ur data cable & power cable & try to ditecing
if not show then do one ting go in a device manager >system devices>pci bus>right click on it & uninstall then ur pc is restarts
& insatll ur all divce drivers correctly
well evidently you have a software problem, otherwise your dvd unit is broken, but lets hope not and try this:
you surely have the recovery CD or DVD that comes with your laptop and if you are clueless at computers you have to play attention on the following:
first is to ensure your unit is working and tha can be done by booting from any bootable CD. Just enter the bios if necessary, set the machine to boot first from cd and next from hd... then start with any bootable disc that you know is working. Windows installing disc can be, laptop recovery can be too... if it works now you know the problem is on the operative system and you need to focus on that.
try going to systems properties, then go to the exclametory sign and go properties with right button, navigate that options and if you are shown, ensure to enable DMA access mode. If you cant do this, just uninstall that device by clicking on the right button and selecting unninstal... and then do the same with any devices related to cds and ide devices... finally reboot your system and let windows put all that bach in place.
If this doesnt help you you might need to reinstall OS, so either backup your files and restart using the cd that comes with your computer or get back with more precise information, because yours is a very generic problem and many things can cause that.
