Can you provide the exact Make, Model and Kenmore model number? Kenmore model numbers use the format ###.######## with the first three digits of 110 for Whirlpool manufactured machines. Assuming that this is a basic top load, direct drive model. Without the full model number, I can only guess that the problem may point to the Motor Coupler. Please post the full model number and I can point you in a better direction.

Your agitator dogs are stripped out. Pry off the top lid of the agitator. Reach inside with a pair of pliers and pull the plastic tab loose. Take a 7/16 socket wrench and a extension to remove the bolt inside. Pull up sharply on the agitator to remove it.
Take the center piece holding the rubber dogs out of the agitator. Replace the 4 tear shaped dogs and re-install the agitator.

The DOGS that drive the top part of the agitator are broken.
Pull off softener cup
Remove cap underneath
Remove bolt
Pull off the top part of the agitator.
you should see 2 broken pieces of plastic that your friendly appliance parts guy should have in stock.
