magnavox 42mf230a/37 screen is black/blank power button is blue, green led inside blinks in synch with a very light humming/pulsating sound that can be heard on or near the y-main board. any ideas what might be wrong. i unfortunately do not have a schematic but from what i gather these sets have a lot of problems. if nothing else it will be fun to learn on. thanks

Replace the Y_Substain Board. The pulsating sound is the switch mode power supply trying to start up, but will shut down due to shorted Y-Board.
