The Battery for laptops is normally charged through an household electrical outlet and shoud be done simply by removal of the battery and connect it to the electrical outlet. If the battery is old and no longer rechargeable then repurchase should be alailable on the internet.

Yes this is a problem in the chip board and unless you have soldering experience I would not recommend trying to fix it yourself. There is a piece on the board that is causing the charger to short circut and it will continue to keep doing that until you get it replaced. I would recommend letting them fix it. Sorry.
