My machine will not pick up the bobbin thread. All the tread just gathers under the fabric in a knot. I have changed needles over and over, changed bobbins, changed the thread to different weights. cleaned all the parts and I have no idea what to do next. What does fixing the timing entail? I have a Husqvarna Scandinavia 400. I think the warranty has run out on it, even though I just unpacked it a month ago, it was purchased xmas 2006.

    Thanks carol

I had the same problem and found that I was not winding the bobbin thread correctly in the bobbin case. Try going back and following the directions again.

Machine won't stitch

If by "won't stitch" you mean that the top thread will not pick up the bottom thread, make sure you have the needle threaded properly. If the machine is a top loading bobbin, the thread goes in the needle from front to back. Same if it's a side loading bobbin (bobbin faces you as you sew). If it's a front loading bobbin (bobbin faces left of machine), the thread goes in the needle from left to right.

Bobbin not picking up thread

here are some suggestions
make sure the needle is the right one for the fabric being sewed
make sure the needle is all the way up into the needle holder
check to see if the top thread has come off the thread take up lever
try a different bobbin
if the machine is a front or side loading bobbin make sure the bobbin
is inserted correctly into the bobbin case and that the bobbin case
is inserted correctly into the machine
turn the bobbin the opposite way in the bobbin case
also clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
it's a possibility that the machine could have a timing problem and
needs to be checked

Hi I ahve a Bernina H70 model and I've been working for hours trying to thread the bobbin so the top thread picks up the bobbin!

make sure the presser foot is at it's hightest position, then thread the top
of the machine
change the needle
make sure the bobbin is not over full
that it is turned the right way in the bobbin case
if none of these suggestions work,,it is also possible that the machne is
out of time & needs to be checked at a repair shop

here's a link for a manual

I THINK I've followed every instruction and tip regarding threading my machine and bobbin, but the needle won't pick up the bobbin thread. It just comes up as it went down, without the loop fr

Hi. Usually this is due to a wrong needle or your needle not being set correctly. Do you know if your patcher is a 29k? or?

There are various manuals at that link... hopefully your patcher is there. good luck

Machine won't pick up bobbin thread

Generally, this is because the needle is inserted wrong or because it's bent. In the first case, the top of the needle (called the shank) has a flat side-this has to be inserted so it faces the back or away from you.
In the second case, when a bent needle stops the top thread from picking up the bobbin thread. Even if you think your needle is fine, change it to see if this solves the problem.

If this doesn't work, leave me a comment. I check back daily, so I'll see the comment and will see what more I can do to help you, most likely within 24 hours.

Make sure the bobbin has a 3-5 inch thread tail
Then make sure the top thread has a 3-5 inch tail
Then hold the top thread tail with your fingers (away from the needle)
& use the hand wheel on the right hand side of the machine to slowly
Lower the needle in the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick

The top thread won't catch the bobbin thread to pull it through. It almost seems like it doesn't go around to pick it up. Or is the bobbin thread supposed to pop up more for pick up? This is my Mom's...

check the needle to see if it's damaged
have a thread tail for the top thread & bobbin thread of 3-4 inches
try this & see if it helps you
make sure there's a 3-4 inch bobbin thread then, hold the top thread tail (3-4 inches) with your fingers away from the needle & then use the handwheel on the right side of the machine & lower the needle down into the bobbin area & see if it pick up the bobbin thread that way
make sure there's no lint or loose threads in bobbin area
