Although full set of new ink cartridges have recently been installed the red ink is printing blury, faint and a sort of orange shade. Printer has been turned off and heads cleaned. All other colours seem fine.

I have a MFC-420CN brother printer, I recently replaced all the ink cartridges ran the head cleaning and tried to print. It seems the black cartridge is not working, I've tried re-seating it, looking for additional tape strips, and even put in another brand new cartridge with the same result. The software is convinced that both brand new cartridges are "Near Empty" even though on inspecting them it is obvious they are full (see through plastic is always a nice feature). Please note that the 3 color cartridges came from the same manufacture and seem to work fine, and register as full. If you have any suggestions I would be happy to hear them. Thanks, Dustin
