I have a Toshiba TV model 36A43 that won't power

I have a Toshiba TV model 36A43 that won't power on. The same thing happened yeaterday as this morning. The tv will not power on via remote, or the manual power button. Yesterday, the same thing occurred and I unplugged it for a little while and then it worked. The picture was perfect as usual, but the volume down display kept popping up on the tv. I have the unit connected through a stereo system, so I don't even use the tv speakers, but the pop up was a bit annoying. I shut it off last night and this morning it won't power up again. I noticed today that when I unplug and plug it back in the red power indicator button flashes, but it won't turn on even after being unplugged for a couple of hours now.
