Question about Sanyo Xacti VCP-HD2 Camcorder

Red flash and appears to be frozen

Hi. This is the first time this has happened. I erased my sanDisk 2gm card to clear up some memory glitch it has, and when I put it back in my Sanyo nothing will work. It's like it's frozen. There's a red flash, I can't turn the camera off, it just keeps flashing. I'm guessing something I did with the disk caused the problem, but don't know what to try since nothing works.

Yes, I get red flashing too occasionally.

reformat the card either via a computer of if possible via the camera menu item.

Remove and re-insert the card.

SD card format ng no card

  • 1 Insert your SanDisk 8GB memory card into a card reader connected to your computer.
  • 2 Double-click "Macintosh HD" on your desktop.
  • 3 Click on the "Applications" folder, then the "Utilities" folder.
4 Double-click "Disk Utility". Look on the left side to locate the drive that says "SanDisk.
5 Select the capacity of the drive on the left side of the window. The capacity will state "8GB" or "8,388,608 kilobytes." Click on the "Erase" tab to format the memory card. When you see "SanDisk" listed as the device's name, the capacity will be located above. You need to select the capacity and not the device.
6 Select the appropriate "Volume Format." Under the "Volume Format" button, select the format you wish to use. Select "Mac OS Extended" if the SanDisk 8GB will only be used on Macs, or "MS-DOS (FAT)" if you will share the card between a Mac and PC. Select "Erase" to complete the format of your SanDisk 8GB memory card.

    Good Evening Pat
You will be fine, its just a standard warning that comes up when you dont use the same brand memory card.
If the camera is able to record and upload the video to your computer or TV then you should have no problems at all.
I hope you enjoy the wedding.

Use a higher quality SD card. PNY or SanDisk usually works well with flash camcorders. Also make sure it's a HCSD card ( High Capacity ).

Aiptek IS-DV Memory Full message when memory card is empty

Exactly the same thing happend to me with my brand-new Aiptek. Turns out it was the no-name brand SD card that I got from China which destroyed it. Aiptek was kind enough to replace it for free since it was under warranty. Aiptek's caution: Stick to brands like SanDisk, Dane-Elec, Kingston, Transcend or PNY. Purchase from resellers like Target, Best Buy, or Avoid MINI & MACRO style cards. NO Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III, class 6. AVOID Hi-SPEED!

Select FORMAT from the list and press the ENTER button. 6. "ALL FILES ARE DELETED! FORMAT REALLY?" appears on the screen. 7. Using the MENU DIAL, select the item. NO : To return to previous menu YES : To start formatting. 8. Press the ENTER button. If you selected the YES, COMPLETE! appears on the screen when the MEMORY CARD formatting is finished. 9.
