My step daughter has a Coolpix L11, and the USB communications will not work on any of several different computers. Extremely annoying.

I bought a Nikon Coolpix L11 on May 18, 2008, and here's the problem: the USB connection cable won't install on my Dell. The operating system is Window Vista Home basic, from 2007. This is extremely annoying. What can I do to fix this problem?

I also have a Nikon coolpix 11 camera. I have insyalled the picture project on my Dell computer. The USB is not reading and not recognizing. I have contacted Dell, and of course, they said it was the camera. I don't think it is. I have a lot of pictures that I would like to download, but can not. This is also annoying. Can you help me?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Coolpix L11 Cable and Moniter trouble.

If you are speaking of the display on your camera, I would check the battery. It may need re-charging. Not sure what to tell you about the USB cable. You can find your USB ports on your computer either on the back or sometimes the front of the computer.
