Question about Samsung TXM3096WHF 30" TV

Samsung 30" Slimfit HDTV SMELLS up the whole room!

I realize all TVs probably have a 'new TV' smell, that is likely some sort of toxic chemical off-gassing (I know they have flame retardants in them!), but I have never had a TV smell so strong! Not so much when it's not on, but when it's running, even for a short period, it smells. It's not a burning smell, but basically I'll call it a 'new TV' smell, but so strong it's on the verge of making you feel sick. We have the TV in our bedroom and even the bathroom and hall smell when it's running. I'm considering returning it due to this. I've had it almost 2 weeks and the smell isn't getting better. I've even tried leaving it run all day (yesterday) with the windows cracked and that didn't help. I LOVE the TV otherwise - this is a real bummer to me :(

I had the same problem with a 40 inch Samsung Model LNT 4069 that we purchased from Best Buy. The tv was left on all day for a month and the smell never went away, so we returned it to the store. The smell, to me, is of a mild chemical burning plastic smell.

I just purchased a 20" samsung slimfit tv and it has a very strong electric burning smell when plugged in, even when not on. It seems to work fine, although I'm not very happy with the picture quality. IS IT DANGEROUS??? I really don't want to return it, and I can live with the smell as long as I know for sure it is safe. Thanks for any help!!

I had the same problem with toxic smell. Couldn't sleep..slept probably 3 hours each night since I had the TV in my bedrom. It's a complete toxic chemical smell, from inside the TV. It's much worse when it's on, but when you turn it off, it off-gasses for several hours. I felt sick all day and night. Returned the TV. Feel much better and slept through the night. I'll use my old TV until they become less toxic!!!! These companies should be ashamed of themselves!!

If it smells like ozone, I don't know how to describe the smell, it is from the faulty CRT base socket, it is not a major trouble, you can easily replace it or get it replaced, just get the exact same type base socket. I don't think the problem is something else becasuse other smells that can happen are from burning components, in that case the tv wouldn't have worked so long. Good luck.

And there is a small update, actually I made a mistake, the smell comes from your final anode connection, from the end of the red wire that goes to the top of the picture tube. You can detach the vacuum cup at the end and clean both the cup and socket, and short the end of the anode to ground before detaching it, don't use petrol or something that can harm rubber. You change the cup, believe it is available at shops, or else use some glues to attach the cup.

Gas exhaust smell when Hot water heater ignites

Absolute danger here:

1) Call gas company IMMEDIATELY to check for gas leak that can cause explosion and fire.

2) Call plumber immediately to fix improper combustion or improper vent before toxic combustion by-product kills family.
Gas appliances must vent toxic by-product outside and away from home where the gasses will kill the planet instead of you.

I just bought a 30K ventless wall mount heater and have a 24X30 insulated garage. I set it on 2 and it keeps it about 60 degress but the smell burns my eyes and stains my clothes. It's brand new. I have it...

You need to ventilate this area while the units running! This is potentially a lethal situation!
You are competing with a flame for oxygen and breathing the carbon monoxide gasses
from the heater! Both unacceptable scenarios! you can easily die in this environment!
I cannot stress this enough! You need to open a window or crack the door enough to allow air to circulte and gasses to vent out and escape, If the burning of eyes is really bad your unit may not have sufficient combustion air, I can t tell you without seeing it precisely, you better vent that room though!

Chemical like smell while clothes are drying

If you have recently painted or varnished something then just air out the house. The fumes can react w/ the heat of the dryer to create this smell. It smells different than the actual fumes, but still like some sort of solvent.

Bad smell from my samsung dmr77lhs dishwasher what to do?

Put about three or four drops of eucalypt oil into your dishwasher and put it on a wash cycle - you don't need to use the drying cycle. Then is should smell beautifully. It's probably just the newness of the machine with seals and parts all giving off the smell. If that doesn't work contact the dealer and get them to find out what it is. After all you paid good money for it.
Good Luck

Bad chemical smell coming from the new Kenmore toaster.

I would say return the toaster. No telling what kind of fumes would get into your toast -- toasted bread is like charcoal -- it'll absorb a lot of stuff.

I agree with the China/USA sentiment.

Greetings, Just bought a Kenmore toaster. and this thing stinks to high heaven of chemicals. So I plugged it in and ran it through a cycle and the burnt plastic/chemical Oder was/is enough to gag you. The...

Return it and get a different brand of toaster. That will solve the problem. Hopefully they will let you give a reason why, and someone will care (probably not).

If you do not want to do this, you can plug it in outside and run it through several cycles. This will probably burn out anything that is causing the smell.

Make sure that they didn't have anything packed in the crumb tray.

Wont fire

No solution. The electronic control monitors the flame in the heater using a photocell. The ligth intensity and frequency are monitored to insure that the heater getting a good burn and therefore not emitting a high level of toxic gasses.
